The Environmental Impact of Tissue Paper

Though the tissue papers are made from virgin pulp and recycled waste paper, the fact is that the production of the tissue papers from virgin pulp emits 30% more greenhouse gases when recycled waste paper is used. It is estimated that approx. 140 liters of water are needed to manufacture a single roll of toilet paper. Worsely, chlorine is used to bleach the pulp to look white while other chemicals are added to make it soft and this all leads local water bodies to be polluted.
